The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013)
Director: Takahata Isao
140 minutes + Q&A

In Japanese with English subtitles

A tiny nymph found inside a bamboo stalk grows into a beautiful and desirable young woman, who orders her suitors to prove their love by completing a series of near-impossible tasks.

Followed by a Q&A with author of Anime: A Critical Introduction Rayna Denison, artist Hosono Hitomi and British Museum Curator Nicole Rousmaniere

Ghibliotheque is a podcast that leafs through the library of films from Japanese animation leaders, Studio Ghibli. In each episode, Michael Leader, an avowed Ghibli fanatic, sits down with Jake Cunningham, who has never seen any of the Studio’s work before. Together they look at the history behind Ghibli's films, get a critical perspective from Jake as a first-time viewer and force Michael to rank some of his favourite ever films.
