Death is one of the rare constants of the human condition. This conference explores how people have confronted, explained and come to terms with death through objects across time and around the world.

What connections can we find, and what differences exist, when we face death through objects? Our exciting programme of speakers will touch on past, present and future societies and includes Paul Pettitt (University of Durham), Richard Osgood (Ministry of Defence), Gaye Sculthorpe (British Museum), Lib Taylor (University of Reading), Lucy Jeffery (University of Reading), Helen Strudwick (Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge), Julie-Marie Strange (University of Manchester), and the artists Rob Heard and Julian Stair, along with the project team. The conference is aimed at all levels of interest, as well as academics and professionals working on all aspects of death, memory and remembrance.

Registration will take place between 10.00 and 10.30. Two complimentary coffee breaks are included, but guests are asked to make their own arrangements for lunch.
