Come to the Museum for an evening of performances, films and drop-in workshops to celebrate Refugee Week.

As part of Refugee Week (20–26 June 2016), the British Museum is collaborating with Counterpoints Arts to organise a special evening event at the Museum. Refugee Week is organised by Counterpoints Arts as part of their mission to engage with refugee and migrant experiences through arts and cultural programmes.

The theme of this year’s Refugee Week is ‘Welcome’. You are invited to get involved and find out about the positive contribution refugees have made and continue to make to the UK.

There will be music from Maya Youssef, Louai Alhenawi, Stephen Ellis and Haymanot Tesfa, and storytelling and spoken word from Kayo Chingonyi, Write to Life, Alia Al Zougbi. Enjoy theatrical performances by Young Vic / DOST, ice&fire, and Arcola Theatre / Ala-Turka (in Turkish). Drop-in activities will be provided by UNHCR, Amnesty International, International Rescue Committee, International Organization for Migration, Refugee Council, and the Islington Centre for Refugee and Migrants. Join artists Emily Tracy, Hong Dam and Bern O’Donoghue and Olivier Kugler for a series of participatory workshops and immerse yourself with performance artists, Cultivators and Alketa Xhafa-Mripa.

Presented in collaboration with Counterpoints Arts and the Museum's community partners.
