Listen to gallery introductions
There are introductions to more than 60 galleries available to listen to on your phone, computer or other device. These audio tracks recorded by British Museum curators are the perfect way to prepare for your visit, or to simply enjoy at home. They also offer a good alternative to help you explore the Museum if the full audio guide is sold out.

British Sign Language
The British Sign Language (BSL) guide is available free of charge for deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors. A range of dynamic presenters interpret the objects in the collection, introduce tours and provide context based on curators' commentaries – all on a high-resolution screen.
Audio descriptive guide
The audio descriptive guide is available free of charge on a touchpad device for blind or partially sighted visitors and others who find audio description helpful. It contains detailed professionally audio-described information about objects along with curators' commentaries.
When you hire a British Museum audio guide you must provide us with a piece of personal identification.
We'll take a temporary digital copy of your identification. This is protected by password encryption and will be automatically deleted when you return your guide.
If you fail to return the audio guide, the Museum will use your personal data only to investigate the missing property.
Your data may be passed to law enforcement authorities for the purposes of prevention and detection of crime.
