Curator, writer and artist; born at Naples; grandson of Robert Fagan and son of the George Fagan (qq.v.) who was a friend and political ally of Anthony Panizzi; 1869-92, assistant, later senior assistant, in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum; wrote numerous works on the BM collections and on Italian life, the latter with his own illustrations, and acted as Panizzi's literary executor. Died at his home in Florence.
