Marion-Arsinoe (Scope note)

Marion and Arsinoe are the two ancient names for Polis-tis-Khrysokhou (Polis), the modern town lying over the ancient city. Marion was established in the early first millennium BC and was destroyed in 312 BC, then rebuilt with the new name of Arsinoe in the third century BC. Marium is the Latin name for the archaic site.
