The Haimon Group (Biographical details)

The Haimon Group (painter/draughtsman; Greek; 500BC - 480BC; fl.)

Also known as

Haimon Group

A group of Athenian black-figure vase-painters whose names are unknown. Beazley (following Haspels ABL) named them the Haimon Group because of the resemblance of their style of drawing to that of the Haimon Painter (q.v.). They were a prolific group of black-figure vase-painters specialising mostly in decorating lekythoi, usually on a white ground. They were working at the same time as the flowering of the finest red-figure vase-painters. A large number of vases have been attributed to them on the basis of style.
