The Keyside Class (Biographical details)

The Keyside Class (painter/draughtsman; ceramicist/glass worker/potter; Greek; 510BC - 490BC; fl.)

Also known as

Keyside Class

A group of Athenian black-figure vases of similar shape. Beazley called the group the Keyside Class naming them after the key-pattern that is (unusually) used as a side border on two oinochoai. These vase-painters worked in black-figure at a time when red-figure was already well established and specialised in decorating oinochoai. A number of vases have been attributed to this group on the basis of style.
