H A Tubbs (archaeologist; academic/intellectual; British; Male; 1865 - 1943)

British classical scholar who directed excavations in Cyprus for the Cyprus Exploration Fund in 1889 and 1890. In addition to supervising these excavations, a large portion of the finds from which were given to the British Museum, he also offered various casually antiquities for sale to the British Museum. In 1891, he took up a lectureship in the Department of Classics and Philology at Melbourne University, moving to the University of Auckland in 1894 as Chair of Classics, though he returned to Australia a few years later.
