Huguenot silversmith who was apprenticed to Thomas Jenkins of the Butcher's Company in 1699 and free in 1706. His mark as a largeworker was first entered in 1706. His brother Samuel was apprenticed to him in 1708 and the two brothers worked together for some time. 'Old Margas' is referred to as one of the Subordinate Goldsmiths to the King, 1723 to 30. His work was largely domestic.
