Print publisher, engineer and lithographer; reproduced works from the Galerie Aguado; some prints from this set bear an elaborate square blindstamp 'Galerie Aguardo/Gavard Éditeur'. Also published, through the Imprimerie royale, a series of around 160 prints of portraits and battle scenes under the title "Galerie historique de Versailles" between 1839-1848. Sometimes used an oval blindstamp lettered 'Galeries historiques de Versailles, Gavart Ed. / a toutes les gloires de la France'.
Sometimes signs 'Gavard, diagraphe et pantographe', after his invention, the 'diagraph', a device used to accurately copy paintings.
