The pioneer in France of making and publishing photogravure (héliogravure) reproductions of engravings and etchings. His main series of facsimiles of old master prints began in 1869, usually published in portfolios with accompanying text by G.Duplessis. His prints have a stamp in red on the verso: see Lugt 2934.
