Founder of Wat Suanmokkh Phalaram (also known as Wat Thannamlai) in Chaiya district, Surat Thani province, Buddhadasa Bhikkhu published many books and gave numerous talks on Buddhist philosophy, particularly its applications in everyday, modern life. He studied and engaged with the views of prominent scholars and with the philosophies of other religious faiths. Buddhadasa Bhikkhu's views earned him a huge following in Thailand and a number of Thai social activists of the 20th century have cited him as an inspiration. His writings have continued to be republished following his death.
