Also known as

Obizzo, Giovanni Maria (documented in a legal dispute in Venice)

Venetian artist, painter in enamel on glasses made in Murano around 1488-1525, specialising in figurative painting/ busts on lattimo (milky white opaque) glasses, such as cups and bowls. The BM possesses fine examples attributed to him. His busts show a strong influence from Carpaccio in presenting fashionable men and women of the Venetian elites, and his pieces are associated with betrothal and marriage rituals in that they have amorous iconography or mottoes.
