Writer, antiquarian, and occasional draughtsman. Based in Metz, but often travelled. Married in 1587 Marie Aubry, daughter of the publisher Jean Aubry. A relation of the engraver Robert Boissard. Responsible for texts and drawings for numerous illustrated books issued in the years 1581-1601, engraved and published by Robert Boissard, Theodor de Bry (a friend), Alexandre Vallée, and Jacques Granthomme.
