Biography

Dutch painter and etcher, mainly of seascapes. Working in Amsterdam and Haarlem. Born and died at Amsterdam. Pupil of Simon de Vlieger (q.v.), of which he owned over a thousand drawings. Friend of Rembrandt (q.v.), of which he owned hundreds of drawings.
