Bequeathed his collection of 7650 portrait mezzotints and 2675 portraits of Queen Victoria to the BM. See Colvin's report dated 6 February 1903 (which gives the relevant extract from the will), in which he valued the mezzotint collection at £30,000. The bequest was originally in 1896 to go to the National Portrait Gallery, but in 1900 was changed by codicil to go to the British Museum.
