Etcher, illustrator and painter. Born in Worlingham, Suffolk and educated at Holt, Norfolk. Initially employed by Lloyds, London, as a clerk when he left school aged 16. Began his career as an artist in 1895, sending cartoons to the periodical Fun and later became a full time illustrator, working for the Graphic, 1898-1908 and other publications, 1908-1923. Member of the Langham Sketch Club. Elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, 1909, where he exhibited; also exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. Lived in Beccles, Suffolk. His work is held in the V&A Museum as well as in the British Museum.
