Clergyman, poet, watercolourist and pen and ink draughtsman for wood engravings; studied art at the Slade School, Oxford, under John Ruskin. Founder of the Century Guild with Mackmurdo and Horne, and wrote and designed for its journal 'The Hobby Horse,' 1883-91. Designed stained glass; appointed Professor of Fine Art, Oxford, 1910-16.
His name recorded in the P&D visitors' book 27 July, 31 Nov 1909, and on other dates; often visited with Charles Ricketts
His wife, Janet Image (q.v.), gave drawings from his collection to the British Museum in 1933.
