Engraver and painter; son of Bartolomeo Montagna. His significance as a painter is merely local, his style being based predominantly on his father. His importance is as an engraver. His earliest engravings have been dated to around 1500, but could be earlier. They are mostly based on the drawings and paintings of his father, embellished with borrowings from Dürer. In contact with Girolamo Mocetto from 1505, after which his technique was strongly influenced by Giulio Campagnola.
