Painter and illustrator; born in Pretwich, Lancashire, daughter of a photography teacher and neice of the inventor of shorthand, Sir Issac Pitman (1813-1897); she exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; her work included illustrations for a number of children's books including those by Mrs Molesworth: 'The Magic Nuts', 1899 and the 'Ruby Ring', 1904; she lived in Manchester, London 1894-1902 and Ledbury, Hertfordshire, 1907.
