James Sayers (Biographical details)

James Sayers (printmaker; British; Male; 1748 - 1823)

Also known as

Sayers, James; Sayer, James

Caricaturist, with a long career. Plates usually use aquatint and are hardly ever coloured. First notable for his works 1783-4 on the Fox-North coalition published by Thomas Cornell. Later works were published by Hannah Humphrey.
The BM has a superb collection of his work in three albums collected by Sarah Banks, and obviously supplied directly to her by Sayers (see 298.d.2). There are numerous annotated and working proofs.
