Auction house founded in 1793 by the print-dealer Thomas Dodd (q.v.) and Walter Bonham, a book specialist. Expanded since the 1850s to handle all categories of antiques, fine art and collectables. The US branch of the firm is known as Bonhams & Butterfields. The Australian auctioneers, Goodmans joined the Bonhams group in 2003 to form Bonhams and Goodmans.
