  • This painting, from a dispersed Jahangirnama, depicts Jahangir weighing prince Khurram (later Shah Jahan) against gold and silver. The Prince sits cross-legged in a large scale ornately decorated with gold, rubies, and other precious jewels while surrounded by attendants. On the table directly in front are trays filled with daggers, knives, gold jars, cups, and saucers, all similarly studded with jewels. The entire scene takes place underneath a canapy and within a courtyard. Title appers above illustration. Painted in opaque watercolour, ink, and gold on paper.
