- Description
-
This marble figure represents a lion with its mouth open, crouching for a spring. The bristling manes are arranged in a series of locks in parallel rows. The jaw, middle section between the front and hind legs, left hind leg, tail and parts of the right fore leg are missing. The statue is not certainly associated with the Nereid monument. They appear stylistically earlier in date.
