    Silver bow brooch, cast: semi-circular head-plate surmounted by anthropomorphic bust; flanked by flat profiled peacock projections; pentagonal foot-plate with two similar projections; animal mask terminal; incised linear foliate decoration and ears of grain. A pair with brooch 1912,0610.2.

    Martynivka (formerly Martynovka), Kanev raj., Kiev obl., Ukraine; registration nos. 1912,0610.1-22 part of a group of some 115 surviving silver items found in obscure circumstances during agricultural work, c.1907 and before 1909 (and not in 1911 as stated in ANNUAL RETURN. Return to an Order of the Honourable the House of Commons for Account 'of the Income and Expenditure of the British Museum for the Year 1912', printed by Hansard. London, p. 80, based on MS letter from vendor, 30.1.1912); part was lost, part gradually acquired between 1909 and 1914 in four separate packets by (now) Gosudarstvennoi Istoricheski Museum, Kiev
