Copper alloy fittings from the 1843 hoard, such as the three 'masks' (1847,0208.82-4) and the narrow, curved strips tooled with a feather pattern (1847,0208.100), may have been decorative elements on the large stave-built vessel or 'bucket' with straight or near-straight sides identified from the iron binding strips (under 1847,0208.163) by Fitts et al. (1999, 41-46, fig 26).
