    Farrer 2001

This print is number 30 in the series 'One Hundred Famous Views in Edo' and belongs to the spring section. Umeyashiki is the name of a plum garden on the banks of the Sumida River. The garden was originally planted by a textile merchant. The tree in the foreground was given the nickname Resting Dragon Plum, because the branches grew so long that they reached the ground and new trees emerged near them. Vincent van Gogh made a copy of this print in 1887.
