An impression of this print was first exhibited at the Leicester Galleries, London in October 1919 (no. 51). It was printed in an edition of 25.

Text in Frances Carey & Antony Griffiths, 'Avant-Garde British Printmaking 1914-1960', BMP 1990, no.34:
The sharp viewpoint down between the skyscrapers into the streets of New York is found in a number of contemporary American works of art. Nevinson later implausibly claimed that all these were derived from him: "Since then dozens of painters have copied my technique in the rendering of modern buildings" ('Paint and Prejudice', p.202).
The painting corresponding to this composition and this lithograph were both shown at the Leicester Galleries in October 1919 (nos 22 and 51). They are both almost exactly the same size, but there is a significant difference in that the smoke in the print, particularly in the right foreground, is less dense than in the painting (reproduced in 'C. R. W. Nevinson and the Great War', Maclean Gallery, London 1980).
