  • Description

Bronze lantern of cylindrical form: circular tray edged by double walls with simple mouldings, two vertical supports in the form of half-round columns with composite capitals, and an upper circular element with double walls and simple mouldings. On this is a domed lid with mouldings at its rim and centre, pierced by groups of smoke-holes. The lid can be raised by a system of rings and loop-in-loop chains attached to the top of the support columns, the lid and two cross-bars with hooks and loops. The lantern stands on three moulded pad feet riveted through the lower tray, at the centre of which is a T-shaped bar. The lamp is a cylindrical moulded box with a central orifice and a lid decorated with mouldings. Its floor is concave below with a disc soldered to the underside, which which engages with the T-bar in the lantern. Within the lamp is a flaring wick-holder of sheet metal.
