Pencilled note in Dalton, Maker's mark GR is george Robinson, Galway, see Jackson, p. 706 as working before 1784.

According to the Braybrooke catalogue, 'A gold band completed with two hands clasping a heart, surmounted by a coronet: inside the hoop are the letters I. and K. with M. between and above them. This is probably the initial letter of the surname of the pair whose christian names, perhaps John and Catherine, are indicated by the two others on each side. The coronet may be in refence to the rank of the parties, or simply denote the sovereigntyof love over the heart. There is also a stamp with the letters G.R. inside the hoop. This ring is described in the 7th volume of the Institute Journal and assigned to the 17th century. It was purchased at the Rev. Mr. Mockler's sale, June, 1848. -121grs.'
