Description
Gypsum wall panel relief: the top river shows a rover on which 'quffas' and a 'kelek' are used to transport lighter materials; the second register consists of larger and smaller pine trees (conifers), a reed thicket beside a river, the Tigris, is shown to the right in both registers. Only the left half of the main scene is preserved: four rows of men are pulling ropes to move a colossal figure of a winged bull for Sennacherib's palace towards the left. On the river are two coracles and a raft made of massive timbers, lashed together. Note the horizontal striations made by a toothed tool above the arm of the central official in the group of three; there are also a series of lines above and below his extended arm, indicating that it was originally conceived at an angle.
