    This is a sheet from a drawing book. A complete bound volume is in the British Museum, located 165.b.7, consisting of sixty prints (1891,0511.316.1-60). The title-page of the volume reads: "The / School of Art; / or, / most compleat [sic] / drawing-book / extant: / consisting of an extensive series of well chosen examples, / selected from the designs of those eminent masters / Watteau, Boucher, Bouchardon, Le Brun, Eisen, &c. &c. / engraved on sixty folio copper plates, / and performed in a method which expresses the manner of handling the chalk, and / the management and harmony of its tints in real drawings. / London: / printed for John Bowles, at the Black Horse, in Cornhill; Robert Sayer, at / the Golden Buck, near Serjeant's-Inn, Fleet-Street, and Carington Bowles, / near the Chapter-house, in St. Paul's Church-Yard. / MDCCLXV. / [Price fifteen shillings sewed.]". The title-page is followed by three-page of the introduction.

    Within this series of the School of Art, there is a sub-series titled: "12 heads, selected from Monsr Le Brun's passion of ye soul" (1891,0511.316.25-36). They are copied from early editions by Audran and Sayer, 1867,1214.854-873 and 1925,0417.1.1-20 respectively.
