Plate from Orazio Orlandi's 'Le nozze di Paride ed Elana, rappresentate in un vaso antico nel museo del Signor Tommaso Jenkins', Rome 1775
Now in the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
In 1774 Townley purchased a copy of this vase from Carlo Albacini (TY 10/3/17).

    A. Wilton and I. Bignamini (ed.) 'Grand Tour: The Lure of Italy in the Eighteenth Century' (1996), no.226:
The so-called 'Jenkins Vase' is a decorative marble vase incorporating an ancient sculptured well-head, showing the marriage of Paris and Helen attended by Eros and the Muses. The well was converted (see 2012,5006.1918) at the behest of Thomas Jenkins into a vase and was bought from him by James Hugh Smith Barry (on the Grand Tour in 1771-6) for Marbury Hall in Cheshire. In 1976 it was purchased for the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
    Lit: Vaughan 1978, p.7, fig.6
