  • Curator's comments

    This is the frontispiece to a series of ten plates showing animals after Jan van den Hecke. For a complete set in BM collection see S.6393-6403. For five separate impressions (bound together by a single stitch of a thick rope) see also 1979,U.490-494.
    This plate is an undescribed state before publisher's address, for later states see 1895,1031.142 and 1979,U.490.
