    Painting, detached from album; A man grooming a large horse (drawn in profile). Horse is saddled with two legs tied by a rope, with a branding mark evident on its rear. Void background. Small inscription appears between the horse and groom, as well as inscriptions within the surrounding border. Painted in opaque watercolour, gold, and ink on paper.

    This portrait of a magnificent royal stallion has been mounted on an album page with poetry that does not relate to it. Another similarly composed page with a horse portrait of the same date suggests that picture books of royal stallions were compiled, perhaps as a record of royal blood stock. The painting bears a scrawled attribution mashq-i Rida: evidently the painter Aqa Rida/Riza is intended.
