    Lit: G.Bartrum in 'The Apocalypse and the Shape of Things to Come', exh. cat., BM, London 1999, no.60.
    From a series of 48 woodcuts on the Apocalypse juxtaposed with Allegories on the Church. BM also has a Dutch leather-bound album of the series (158 c.1) The woodcuts were intended as illustrations to a translation of Meyer's Apocalypse Commentary (published in Latin in Zurich 1539). The German edition never appeared. A surviving manuscript copy with the illustrations in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek Munich has been thoroughly analysed by Petra Roettig, 'Reformation als Apokalypse', Bern 1991. (For the Fall of the Church woodcut cf. no.22b).
