- Curator's comments
- '.... there is a letter to the prefect Cerialis from a certain Karus, in all likelihood one Claudius Karus who occurs in another fragment and is probably a fellow officer. It is a letter of recommendation.... in which Karus invites Cerialis... to offer patronage to a certain Brigonius and, in turn, to pass Brigonius on to the notice of a more powerful figure, Annius Questor, the legionary centurio regionarius at Luguvalium (Carlisle). Questor may well be hte most powerful officer in the immediate region' (Bowman 2003, 22).
