    Published by Cunningham in 'Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal', vol. 50, p. 154, pl. XIII; Kondakov, Tolstoi & Reinach, 'Antiquités de la Russie méridionale', p. 191. Acquisition in 1931, following the "Persian Art" exhibition at Burlington House and the transfer of the "Oxus Treasure" from the British & Medieval Department to the Department of Egyptian & Assyrian Antiquities; the acquisition was reported in the 'Annual Report of the General Progress of the Museums for the year 1931' issued by the British Museum & British Museum (Natural History) as "A fine gold Persian statuette of a rider (without horse) belonging to the Oxus Treasure, was added to that collection" (p.6).
