In this compelling exhibition of beautiful sculpture, jewellery, armour, vases and ancient sporting paraphernalia, objects are employed to investigate the theme of competition in ancient Greece.

The ancient Greeks are well known for their competitive spirit, whether in the field of politics, sport, drama, warfare, civic or social competition.

While these activities sometimes led to conflict, competition also generated a prosperous culture and valuable exchange of ideas.

This exhibition can be adapted to support an accompanying education programme, combining high quality academic content with imaginative approaches to engage children and young adults across topics, such as history, art and design, literacy, drama, democracy and citizenship.
