Two people in Enlightenment gallery

Existing Members

Thank you for being a Member of the British Museum Friends and for your continued support.

Your Membership subscription is a donation that allows us to support the important work of the Museum. Your support is now more vital than ever.

You can book your timed entry for our exhibitions Thomas Becket: murder and the making of a saint and Nero: the man behind the myth

Most of our permanent galleries are also open and ready to be explored via a one-way route. Everyone – including Members – is advised to book a free timed entry for the permanent collection in advance to ensure physical distancing and a safe and welcoming environment.

Please follow government guidance and visit in groups of no more than six people or a group of two households. We ask that you maintain social distancing between people you do not live with.

All timed entries can be booked for dates up to 25 July. As the roadmap out of lockdown progresses, we'll release further dates in early July if booking is still required. If your preferred date is fully booked or not available, please contact the Membership Office at

Later this year, Members can also look forward to exhibitions on Hokusai's newly discovered drawings and ancient Peru.

We know not everyone is ready or able to return to the Museum yet, so we'll continue to offer exclusive online content from virtual exhibition tours to Membercast podcasts and online events. Find out about the many ways to make the most of your Membership and engage with the Museum and collection from home.

We're also sending regular emails with updates and content just for Members. If you're not receiving our emails, please contact the Membership Office at

We hope to welcome you back to the Museum soon.
