Every year the British Museum recruits a Youth Collective to work with us, which forms a core part of the Young People's programme.
The Youth Collective is a group of 18–24-year-olds from a variety of backgrounds, who meet weekly to learn about the British Museum and work on co-producing events aimed at other young people to inspire them to engage with the Museum.
Through events, workshops and creative online content, the Youth Collective aims to spark conversations and influence change at the Museum by feeding back constructive criticism.
Recruitment for the 2024 Youth Collective has now concluded. Please check back next year to find out how to apply for the 2025 Youth Collective.
2023 programme
The 2023 Youth Collective continued running their events in-person. Their first event All you need is love aimed to show some of the different forms love takes in objects around the Museum. The Mid-Autumn Festival, held in connection with the China's hidden century exhibition, was one of the Museum's largest and most successful events. Their final event, Carve out your career, aimed to empower young people starting their career journey.
