Join the British Museum in celebrating LGBTQ+ identities and histories. Uncover fascinating queer stories in the collection and imagine a boundless future – all through art, performances, talks and activities.

This year the British Museum's Pride celebrations have the theme of Transcending time – and we invite you to engage with LGBTQ+ histories, objects and stories in the British Museum collection. Trans, lesbian, bisexual, gay and queer individuals have always existed across borders and throughout history, though their stories have often been erased from historical narratives.

This year, these celebrations aim to reclaim those narratives and bring LGBTQ+ stories to the fore. From ancient rituals to contemporary artists, LGBTQ+ people are among the creators and caretakers of human culture. We want to celebrate perspectives that have shaped history, reflecting on our shared past and paving the way for future generations.
