Explore the influence of Roman emperors on the history of Roman Britain with Dr Sam Moorhead, National Finds Adviser for Iron Age and Roman Coins, Portable Antiquities and Treasure, British Museum.

Led by experts in the field, these lunchtime lectures are designed to support A-level students and teachers taking Classical Civilisation or Ancient History A-levels and other equivalent qualifications.

It is 10 years since Sam Moorhead and David Stuttard published The Romans who Shaped Britain. There was criticism at the time that it focused too much on powerful rulers; it was still the vogue then to view historical changes as being driven by long-term socio-economic factors.

However, the last few years have shown us how powerful individuals can have an enormous impact on changing the narrative and course of history. Moorhead will show the great influence that several Roman emperors had on the history of Roman Britain in a talk that resonates strongly today.
