Paper conservators will discuss their current projects and the common problems they encounter when working with art on paper. The team includes a specialist papyrus conservator who works on some of the oldest documents in the museum. Conservation mounters will explain how they ensure that the museum’s art on paper collection is stored in the best way to enhance display and ensure safekeeping.

The visit will include the unique opportunity to have a close-up look at the Epifania cartoon by Michelangelo, which is undergoing a major project of examination and treatment. This is one of only two surviving cartoons by Michelangelo.
