Join master storyteller and international bestseller Ken Follett to explore his latest historical epic, The Armour of Light.
Diving into the turbulent 18th century, Follett will discuss the inspiration behind this powerful tale of revolution and cast of unforgettable characters.
Beginning in the fictional town of Kingsbridge at the end of the 18th century, this momentous story tells of a group of linked families whose lives are turned upside-down by the new age of machinery. The strife and brutality of the Industrial Revolution is intensified by a 23-year war between Britain and France. As international conflict nears, a story of a small group of Kingsbridge people will come to define the struggle of a generation as they seek enlightenment and fight for a future free from oppression.
The book completes an eight-volume cycle of novels that chronicle the history of Western civilisation over the last thousand years.
This event is part of the Members' exclusive 2023 Literary season: historical fiction.
