East meets West is an international academic conference open to anyone interested in the subject of the relations between Rome and Parthia.

Speakers will address the relationship of the early Arsacid Parthians and their Western neighbours, the rise of Rome, as well as Parthia’s relationship with kingdoms in the post-Hellenistic era.

Papers will include historical, numismatic and archaeological approaches, including new research and new discoveries.

Registration opens at 09.00 on Day 1.

Day 2 includes an evening reception.

This conference coincides with a free exhibition in Room 69a: ‘Rivalling Rome: Parthian coins and culture’, 2 April–6 September 2020
