Get an introduction to the Arabic language on this short City Lit course at the British Museum.
This four-week introductory course uses the British Museum's new Silk Roads exhibition, as well as objects in the permanent collection, as a starting point to provide a basic foundation in the Arabic language. It introduces the history, forms and rudiments of the language and includes talks in the Museum's galleries, where students can look at objects featuring Arabic.
This course runs for four consecutive weeks from 17.30–20.00 on the following days:
- Week 1 – Friday 8 November
- Week 2 – Friday 15 November
- Week 3 – Friday 22 November
- Week 4 – Friday 29 November

About the tutor
Nora Allali-Carling is a tutor in Arabic at the City Lit, London. She holds a BA, PGCE and an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience in Mental Health, and is a qualified trauma therapist and counsellor. She has been teaching Arabic for over 25 years and works bi-lingually in community projects mentoring and coaching. She has previously taught Arabic at the British Museum, embedding culture, language and ethnography in her classes.
