Description: 1971. SEP. Full overhaul - clock was very dirty with some rust and much dust having been on exhibition in Chinese Gallery. Glass brush was used to remove rust. Clock washed in acetone, reassembled, oiled and set going. Adjusted escapement and some bushing was required. (JLE). 1976. MAY. Overhaul, bushed holes, polished pivots, removed much pitted rust and in doing this took off what was possibly original blueing. (JLE). 1982. MAY. Now in need of further cleaning. (JLE). 1986. JAN. All parts cleaned with Goddard's Glow and detergents. All the pivots in the going train were burnished. And all, but the crown potence, verge upper and lower holes in the going train were bushed. A small washer was used to prevent the painted side of the lunar wheel/disc (which has the face of the moon on it) coming into contact with the underside of the dial. All parts, save the motion work and any bearing surfaces of the going train were lacquered with polyurethane matt varnish. (CPW). 1993. AUG. Clock dismantled and given a superficial overhaul - removal of dust and dirty oil; going train wheels washed with detergent in hot water, dried in sawdust. Lacquer from last overhaul still intact. Dial ioled and wiped dry. Clock re-assembled raedy for return to exhibition. (JLE).
