Description
The marble head was cleaned using a steam cleaner. The animal glue holding the loose plaster fill has softened sufficiently to enable the fill to be detached and the glue to be removed with a scalpel. The iron dowel is well secured into the marble and cannot be removed without risk to the object. The detached fragment was re-adhered with polyester resin. To secure and tighten the base to the head an epoxy resin was injected into the join.
